Necropolis Records

Necropolis Records was a record label founded in 1993, providing to be one of the sole American homes for extreme black metal at that time. The label's roster included artists such as The Black, Incantation, Witchery, Rotten Sound, Babylon Whores, Dissection, Vondur and Impaled. The label was put on ice indefinitely during 2003 when its label founder decided to move on to other industries.

Necropolis has been pulled into a few legal disputes with bands over lost royalties and cutting corners with packaging and contracts. They would often refuse to pay for band's album artwork and for the type of packaging they requested. They would even take people's money and not send the merchandise. Their most notable conflict is with the Swedish black metal band Dark Funeral, over the North American release of their 2002 album Diabolis Interium. To this day, Dark Funeral is still battling Necropolis, which was the reason it took them quite a while to release their latest album.
