[edit] US Reception
Military Madness was one of the early launch titles for the TurboGrafx-16 (TG16) in 1989. The game garnered solid reviews, including Video Games & Computer Entertainment's "1990 Best Military Strategy Game Award". However, despite the critical praise (and modest sales of the US version), the TG16 itself did not sell well in the United States and the game did not earn the same popular following it did in Japan. The game itself was a turn-based strategy game that took place on the moon in 2089 that had the player play as the Union forces (colored blue) against the Axis forces (colored green). Units could not be produced as in other strategy games but you could "capture" enemy units if they were in factories or find unsecured factories and gain units from them.
