[edit] Character Descriptions

Since the characters have some difference from the original Negima - should this anime have its own list of characters? After all, many characters are omitted - aside from Miss Shizuna and the Kyoto characters. KyuuA4 17:45, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About Pactio Cards

In the anime, the cards referenced in the article as "Armor" cards, seem to be called "Rare" cards (レアーカード) in the Anime, although in the official web, they are called "Armor". 62.57.173.217 19:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, the focus of this article is the anime. KyuuA4 19:36, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Separate Story

Now, that more of this series is shown. It is time to treat this series as a separate story instead of a comparison to the manga or the first anime. KyuuA4 18:43, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What's your opinion so far?

I've watched the first episode today. And I'm surprised of the difference between the original and this one. Negima!? has a whole other feeling than the original one. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, guess I'd have to see more of it. FreakingWesley 10:26 12 Octobert 2006 (GMT+1)

I am personally enjoying noticing the differences from original manga material. Having learned of a completely new series based on the same characters, this will be interesting. KyuuA4 05:17, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Akamatsu's Opinion

So, what is Ken Akamatsu's opinion regarding the creation of a new story based on his theme, setting, and characters? KyuuA4 06:00, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

In his diary he approved of this rendition. 66.158.49.6 16:05, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Yep, check it out at ailove.net, although if you can't read Japanese, that's a problem.

[edit] Differences from Earlier Story Write Up

Eventually, it will no longer be feasable to maintain a list format. KyuuA4 06:55, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

I think the article needs to start discussing the series on it's own story and merits rather than how different it is to the original series. Shiroi Hane 08:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
True. Yet fairly difficult to do at this point due to this new series "infancy". Suppose, the listed items can serve as notes. KyuuA4 05:16, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Rating CERO: B (Ages 12 and up)

Rating CERO: B (Ages 12 and up)

OK, by the 4th episode, this series is taking up a story on its own. Therefore, the differences list can be shortened or made obsolete. KyuuA4 16:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chao's seiyu

The voice actor of Chao was changed too. However I don't know who is and who were in the Xebec anime. General Norris 15:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saa, Baka Rainyaa! Ikke Baka Rainyaa!

Can't stop loving the Baka Rangers. I'm sad to hear they're not here anymore. There needs to be a single from their theme song. SAA! Baka Rangers!

There is a Baka Ranger short at the end of every episode.66.158.49.6 16:06, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Not Episode 4. At the end of this one, it features Konoka speaking about the next episode; and she is followed by Asuna composing a "Chupacabra" song. LOL. KyuuA4 02:20, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

There is a Baka Ranger clip at the end of episode 7, so hopefully this means it's coming back.--Foe666 10:46, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About the edit war going on

Please see Talk:Characters of Negima (16-31)‎ MythSearchertalk 17:48, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

This page is protected now. Discuss here please. 3RR blocks may be coming as well. —Wknight94 (talk) 18:56, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree with that. I had to delete someones rants over a volume that cannot be proven facts. Someone needs to lock that as well, or just ban him from editing, because this is gonna turn into a neverending edit war>_>.Jopchan121 22:58, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About the flood-editing.

AnimeDude has been continuously adding unverified statements and opinions making the article inaccurate and doubtful. I ask for a moderator o something of the like to put a stop to the flood-editing and revert all the modifications this user has done to this article. Yukodrigo 19:30, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Conjecture

The following part of the entry:

However despite the new look from the old series and manga this series has been getting a lot more flak from critics and fans alike than when the 1st series aired. Many complaints stem from the fact that most of the characters have been redesigned to look different than from the old anime series and the manga. Most of which center around Nodoka and her new hairdo that essentially looks almost totally different than from the manga and 1st anime. there has also been complaints about her so called "Cosplay Card" that gives her a pair of reading glasses. Also for the reason that Asuna no longer has her signature heterochromia (2 different colored eyes). Many people also are complaining about it because it has nothing to do with the original Manga story line what-so-ever. Many Professional critics have complained that despite that it's a retelling of the story, the story-line itself seems to be totally incoherent and just plain not well thought out. There have even been calls for it's cancellation altogether. And there are rumors that Akamatsu may just pull his license out of the series, effectively canceling the show.

is nothing but but rubbish made up by a disgruntled fan of the series. This guy has been going across virtually every anime forum and site that covers the anime and bad mouthing it. The give away sentence is: "Most of which center around Nodoka and her new hairdo that essentially looks almost totally different than from the manga and 1st anime. there has also been complaints about her so called "Cosplay Card" that gives her a pair of reading glasses." The guy is a Nodoka fanatic and this is a perfect example of that. I thought Wikipedia was meant to be about fact, not the opinion of one nutball. Fix this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thecheesemanakin (talk • contribs).

What are others' opinion of this? This is what the edit war was over, right? —Wknight94 (talk) 03:18, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree. It's nothing but made-up rubbish. Is there a mod or higher up we can ask for help??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kahad (talkcontribs).

I have reported this guy to the AIV(Administrator intervention against vandalism), however, the mods at that time think that it is just a content dispute instead of vandalism and asked me to use the 3RR board instead. However, since I am involved in the edit war, I cannot report the opposing party. If anyone wants to carry on the job, please follow the guildlines on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and the best template I can find on Template:TestTemplates now is the {{comment}} (Not adhering to neutral point of view) template. If anyone can post a comment 2~4 after every edit that user made, if he/she came back to reverting after the comment4 warning, the AIV page can be used. Currently, I'd say try to unblock this page at the Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#Current requests for unprotection or the lower Current requests for significant edits to a protected page to delete the POV about angering fans and anything alike. MythSearchertalk 05:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I myself am a Nodoka fan, but even I found the other person`s statement to be a bit too much. That paragraph was too biased to be considered as a part of the "Overview" of the series. Let real critics to the critiquing and verify the sources (important!) to back up these claims.64.229.112.183 17:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

It appears no one has spoken in favor of that paragraph. I'll remove the protection for now but please do use WP:AN3 instead of edit warring here. If there's only one person adding that paragraph, he'll reach the revert limit quick. Please add a 3RR warning to his talk page if he gets close to 3RR. —Wknight94 (talk) 17:53, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

As a reminder, Fan-Favoritism is often discouraged around Wiki. Wiki is based on fact and basically telling how it is. If anyone has a problem with that, then I'll recommend going to Unencyclopedia. KyuuA4 05:37, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Parodies

The "twirling leeks" in Ep.15 could also be spring onions, which are 'Negi' (ねぎ) in Japanese. [Shichimi] is "Seven Spice", a japanese spice mixture. Ranma 19:14, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

I would go further and say that this is far more likely than the interpretation made in the article. 150.101.121.216 11:50, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivial Info

Much of this article contains trivia. Eventually, that will be weeded out. See: WP:TRIV KyuuA4 19:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Other

  • Spells consist of a key incantation (eg Negi's "Rastel Maskir Magister" and Eva's "Lic Lac La Lac Lilac..."), then the actual spell is invoked in Japanese and seems to involve calling upon some spirit. There is then a closing incantation to release the spell (eg. Negi's "Tel ma Amoris!" and Eva's "Lic lac Spiritus!")
  • The battle between Evangeline and the Thousand Master ended in real magical combat rather than the Thousand Master's pitfall trap in the manga.
  • Not only were Negi and Nodoka both aware of what they were doing when Nodoka made her Pactio, but also the Pactio kiss was a regular one, instead of an accidental kiss that happened in the manga.
  • The order of Setsuna and Konoka's Pactios are switched, with Konoka making her Pactio before Setsuna's in the SHAFT version.
  • In order to make Sayo visible, Evangeline cast a spell on her to allow her to be seen through a camera or any other electronical device, even though Sayo could already possess computers and allow herself to be seen as in the "Wintermute" incident in Episode 7.
  • Unlike the original manga, the Narutaki twins learnt of Negi's secret and formed separate pactios with him.
  • It is noted that Kaede discovering Negi's secret is told in nearly the same fashion as in the Akamatsu manga; the difference, however, is that Kaede is more open in telling Negi she knows his secret (instead of keeping it silent from Negi himself), and she also forms a pactio with him.
  • Whereas the girls' magic training in the manga was the result of both Konoka's grandfather wanting her to start learning magic and Yue and Nodoka wanting to learn magic in hopes of helping Negi defeat a dragon that they confronted in Library Island, the new series has Negi teaching his girls how to use magic as part of some planned training during a camping trip.
  • While the manga has Haruna making her Pactio after Yue, the new series has Haruna making her Pactio first, with Yue finding out about how a kiss is required to make a Pactio through this event.
  • While the punishment for revealing magic to others is being turned into an ermine in the manga and original series, in the new series, the animal that a magic revealer turns into depends on the person (for instance, in the case of Negi, he turns into a Chupacabra).
  • The classroom resembles more of a university lecture hall instead of a standard public school classroom.
