I live 100 Km (62 miles) west of Toronto, Ontario; between Detroit and Niagara Falls.
It is my belief that Wikipedia could become the "Encyclopedia Galactic" mentioned in Isaac Asimov's "Foundation and Empire" novels although the author never saw it being implemented in this form.
I'm an OpenVMS/Alpha software developer employed by:
Bell-ATS (Advanced Technical Services) a department of "Bell Canada".
(Caveat: All my postings at this site have nothing to do with Bell Canada.)

I'm a big fan of Babylon-5, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke.

I currently hold a "brown belt" in Karate (GoJu Ryu) and hope to get a "black belt" before the spring of 2008.
Something to think about: I heard somewhere that the final price tag for getting men on the moon was US$400 Billion. After reading books like "Journey to the Moon: A History of the Apollo Guidance Computer" I came to realize that the US$400 Billion was an investment in the future and that life in the West is now very different from what it would have been without Apollo.
So what's up with the war in Iraq? The US is spending US$5 Billion per month and getting absolutely nothing for it.
Money can be used constructively or destructively. When will the US wake up and get out of Iraq? Those people can't be handed freedom. Democracy is something you seize when your society is mature enough for it.
