Talk:Neuromuscular dentistry

POV--
This question says that neuromuscular dentistry is the definitive treatment for TMJDS and that the evidence supporting this is strong - no evidence is given, and in my opinion the evidence is WEAK! Neuromuscular dentistry accounts for simple loops in the masticatory motor program but DOES NOT ADDRESS TOP DOWN MEDIATION! This is a crucial point in understanding the aetiology of parafunctional habits. Stress is a major contributor to the aetiology of parafunctional habits (many cases of bruxism and clenching occur in the absence of identifiable occlusal problems or damage to the TMJ), which is a CAUSE that cannot be treated by dentists, many of whom resort to treating symptoms of pain, muscle fatique, tooth substance loss and joint damage with simple orthotic (be they soft or hard) therapy, of which there is little published evidence to support efficacy. Article needs a slight rewrite to be NPOV methinks. Dr-G - Illigetimi nil carborundum est. 00:33, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
