"New" was the first single released from the No Doubt album Return of Saturn. The song was written for the soundtrack to the movie Go. The song discusses lead singer Gwen Stefani's early relationship with Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale, whom she later married in 2002.
The song is heavily influenced by New Wave music. In it, guitar pedals and effects are used to distort the sound of Adrian Young's drums.[1]
In the song's music video, each band member plays a character going to a rave.[2] The video won the award for the Most Stylish Video at the 1999 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards.
