Newcestown
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Newcestown (Baile Níos in Irish) is a small village located 35 km from Cork city in the west of county Cork. It is mostly a farming area with small industries such as watch-making and pyramid schemes also evident. There is one school for children from the age of 5 to 12 with adjacent playing fields. In the village there are two shops and one bar. The countryside consists of rolling hills and mountain views. The area has a strong G.A.A. grassroots base with several winning teams at different grades and ages in the county. A historic occasion took place last year when a lucky under 21 team won the west cork title for only a second time in the clubs history. These underachievers defied all odds to beat a strongly fancied Bandon in the final, despite having a corner back called james "awful footballer" curran. James might lack skills and any co-ordination, be unfit and cowardly but his team mates drive and moivation made up for him. Newcestown is the home to many of history's greatest achivements including the discovery of the atom in 1923, and launching the first goat into space from their highly acclaimed space centre in the town centre in 1968.What about Tim-joes winefarm and christmas market?? The whole econmy of Newcestown is built on rural sheep farming, but in recent years 'whorin' has been growing in popularity to the extent that local girls are booked up most Friday nights. A large insurge of foreign nationals is widely expected in years to come
