Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing is an auto racing team in the Champ Car World Series. It is co-owned by accomplished actor Paul Newman and veteran racer Carl Haas, who co-founded the team in 1983. The general manager is Brian Lisles, and the team manager is John Tzouanakis. It is headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
NHL Racing is the most successful team currently active in the Champ Car World Series. Since the team's inception in 1983, its drivers have won seven points championships. Four of the crowns came in Champ Car's predecessor series, CART, and the others of Sébastien Bourdais in 2004, 2005, and 2006 were Champ Car World Series titles. Newman/Haas Racing is also second overall in driver wins. The team has had many notable drivers over the years, including Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Paul Tracy, Christian Fittipaldi, and Cristiano da Matta.
In 2005, Newman/Haas Racing fielded two cars in the Champ Car World Series. The drivers were Bruno Junqueira and Sébastien Bourdais, the eventual champion. Junqueira was injured in a crash during the 2005 Indianapolis 500, however, and was replaced in the cockpit by Oriol Servia.
For 2006, Newman/Haas Racing fielded two cars in the Champ Car World Series. The cars were based on Lola chassis, powered by Ford Cosworth engines and rode on Bridgestone tyres. The drivers were Sébastien Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira
In 2007, former Mi-Jack Conquest Racing co-owner Mike Lanigan joined Newman and Haas as partial owner of the team. As a result of this new ownership, the team has been re-named Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing.
