Nicholas Burkhart
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nicholas J. Burkhart (June 6, 1577 - c. 1621) was a politician and member of the House of Keys, the lower body of the Tynwald, the parliament of the Isle of Man.
Little is known of Burkhart's tenure in the political system of the Isle of Man. Family lore, however, contains record of a scandalous affair with a woman known as Camille. Legend also persists of Burkhart's continual abuse of his two servants, Gavin and Jessica. While this family history is of dubious repute, this affair allegedly led to Burkhart's political downfall and banishment from the House of Keys.[citation needed]
