[edit] Criticisms
Some of his articles that report on proposed links between genetic research and historical linguistics have been met with strong criticism by academic linguists. On the Language Log, Sarah Thomason of the University of Michigan has described him as "the Times reporter who never heard a dumb claim about language that he didn't like." [1]
