Nicholas of Verdun

Nicholas of Verdun (1130-1205) was a French artisan based in Vienna. He created shrines, figurines, and candlesticks decorated with precious stones. He is noted for his realism. The Shrine of Saint Mary is especially known for its 1500 precious stones and 4 rock-crystal finials.
