Nick Bilton

Nick Bilton was born in Darlington, England. He attended college in New York City at The School of Visual Arts and New York University studying Journalism, Documentary Film and Graphic Design. Bilton currently works for The New York Times as the Art Director and User Interface Specialist. Nick Bilton speaks regularly around the country about interactive newspapers and editorial magazines.
Prior to working in journalism, Nick Bilton was a cofounder of The Visual Mafia. The Visual Mafia was a studio started by Matt McGuinness, Morgan Sheasby, Todd Anderson, and Christopher Garvey. The studio worked on a variety of projects, but became well known for commentary covering social injustices including gun control, corporate culture and government abuse. The Mafia, as they were called, was featured in numerous publications and award shows.
Bilton was most recently involved in the creation of Times Reader with a team from The New York Times and Microsoft. TimesReader is at the forefront of 'digital newspapers', taking the principles of print journalism and applying them to the technique of online reporting. TimesReader was announced in Seattle in April 2006 with Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., Bill Gates, and Tom Bodkin.
