Nightmare Ned

Nightmare Ned featuring Ned Needlemeyer, Dad Needlemeyer, Mom Needlemeyer. It was Disney's first attempt in animation and presentation which emulated Nickelodeon's many preteen and pre-pubescent cartoons like "Doug" and "Rugrats." The series focused on the young Ned as he dealt with his fears and problems through his nightmares. The cause for the nightmare would be shown in the first part of the show. The nightmares were very dark and surreal with almost a gothic sensibility resembling director Tim Burton's work. The show was aired on ABC in the Fall of 1997, and only had 25 episodes. It is unknown if it was ever aired on The Disney Channel.

The show was also spun into a computer game, released in 1997. The game features young Ned as he travels through several different adventure portals with themes such as school, ghouls, doctors, and dentists. After each section is completed the menacing monster becomes someone from his life who is connected with that issue, for example after the graveyard sequences it turns out he was worried about the idea of his grandfather dying.
