Normes de Castelló
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Normes Ortogràfiques de Castelló (Castelló Orthographic Norms), also simply known as Normes de Castelló or Normes del 32 after the city (Castelló de la Plana) and year (1932) when they were signed, are an elementary orthographic guidelines which follow Pompeu Fabra's Catalan language norms for its Valencian variety. They were signed by the most important cultural institutions of the Land of Valencia.
They may be regarded as a compromise in the sense they respect the essence and style of Fabran guidelines, but they also allow the use of Valencian idiosyncrasies. They are not a set of complete orthographic norms, but a guide. Present standard Valencian follows approximately these recommendations, but it is important to note that some points are not currently considered orthographic and vice versa. The Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua has expanded upon these guidelines to the present day.
