NC 144 is a state highway in North Carolina located entirely within Scotland County.

N.C. Highway 144 comprises the section of Old Wire Road from U.S. Route 74 in Laurel Hill to Wagram. It is a two-lane undivided highway that is approximately 12.5 miles in length. The eastern terminus of the highway is a junction with U.S. Route 401.
