North Yonge Railways

The North Yonge Railways was the Toronto Transportation Commission brief attempt into radial service. Originally an extension of the Yonge street car line to Glen Echo, it was extended to Lake Simcoe after the purchase or rail line from Hydro Electric Commission of Ontario in 1927. TTC radial service ended in 1930, but later resumed under the name of 'North Yonge Railways' and continued until 1948 under contract to the Townships of Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill and North York.
The service was replaced by the Toronto Transportation Commission North Yonge bus route (now TTC 97 Yonge).
