Billy Bob Thornton (Hot Springs, 4 augustus 1955) is een Amerikaans filmacteur.
Billy Bob Thornton werd geboren in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 1992 won hij een Independent Spirit Award voor One False Move. In 1996 brak hij door met de film Sling Blade. Hij regisseerde de film, speelde de hoofdrol en schreef het script. Hij won voor deze film de Oscar voor Beste Script en werd genomineerd voor Beste Acteur. Enkele andere films waarin hij de hoofdrol speelde zijn A Simple Plan (1998), The Man Who Wasn't There, Bandits, Monster's Ball (alle drie uit 2001) en Bad Santa (2003). Hij schreef verder het script voor the Gift (2000).
Ook is Thornton een zanger, en heeft hij twee albums op zijn naam staan, Private Radio uit 2001 en the Edge of the World uit 2003.
Billy Bob was enige tijd getrouwd met actrice Angelina Jolie, ze scheidden in mei 2003.
