Naar persoonlijke ervaring: Een nomen dubium gebruikt men als het type-exemplaar is onderzocht en ondiagnostisch bevonden. Een nomen nudum gebruikt men als het type-exemplaar om een of andere reden ontbreekt (want dan kan je het ook niet achteraf beschrijven).
