[edit] Licensing
This image is of a film poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher of the film or the studio which produced the film in question. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of film posters
- to illustrate the film in question or to provide critical analysis of the poster content or artwork
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use for more information.
To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
[edit] Fair use
This image, ObsessionPoster.gif, is being linked here; although the picture is subject to copyright I (Hal Raglan) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- According to the Wikipedia:Fair use tag for movie posters, "it is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of movie posters, to illustrate the movie in question, qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law." The image has been added to the article to assist in critical commentary/discussion of Obsession.
Also:
- This image illustrates the text next to which it appears, which describes the film's plot summary and main characters.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality).
- It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the work in any way.
- The image is being used in an informative way and should not detract from the original work.-Hal Raglan 16:41, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
