[edit] History
OCESA is a division of Grupo CIE dedicated exclusively to promoting, managing and producing shows and administering venues where these shows are presented at. In 1997 a separate division was created specifically for theater, both musical and drama. The first play to be produced was "Confesiones de Mujeres de 30" (Confessions of women in their 30's) and Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Both plays became a great success and so did OCESA's Theater division. After having an argument with the Orfeon Theater where Beauty and the Beast was playing the company decided to build or buy their own theaters for big and expensive Broadway shows. In 1999 RENT MEXICO and The Phantom Of The Opera were simultaneously playing at the restored Alameda Theaters. In 2000 Telmex bought both theaters and they became part of the "Telmex Cultural Center" which consists of two theaters, an art gallery and a small shopping center, an agree was singed so that only shows produced by OCESA could be played in both theaters. OCESA Teatro is now a days, the biggest producer of dramatic and musical theater, each year it produces at least two broadway style shows and two or three plays. All shows and productions, have famous artists from diverse media (Movies, telenovelas, music) cast in the main roles. Their shows are of the highest quality and competition is almost nonexistent.

[edit] Critisism
Ocesa teatro is criticized for always having a selected group of stage actors or famous actors that continuously appear in the company's musicals, closing the doors to young up coming actors.
[edit] Trivia
- OCESA teatro has two musicals and eight plays currently playing in Mexico City
- Originally Bésame Mucho was intended to be a preview of the musical which had plans to go to broadway.
- Selana el Musical (OCESA's Second Original Production) Was a huge flop, many factors contributed to this are a poor book, which was rewritten months before the opening date, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took control of Avenida Reforma a very important avenue in Mexico city wich is a few blocks away from the theathre.
