Olneyville, Providence, Rhode Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Olneyville Square is an area of Providence, Rhode Island, defined by the intersection of Westminster Street, Broadway, Plainfield Street, and Manton Avenue. It was a center of manufacturing in the early 1900s, and is currently a working class neighborhood with a significant immigrant population. Historically, it has been heavily Polish-American.

Former warehouses and mill buildings in Olneyville were home to a number of artist collectives including Fort Thunder in the 1990s. Since 2000, many of these buildings have been purchased by developers who plan to convert them into luxury condominiums.
Messer Street Grounds was home to the Providence Grays baseball team of the National League from 1878-1885.
