Q. How did you get the name, OneBadWebMonkey?
A. I get asked this question all the time. During a 5-year stint providing technical support, I was working on an email support team for a national ISP. I handled most of the questions regarding web site development and posting issues.
When new users would ask for direction in creating their websites, I'd often direct them to webmonkey.com which is a site which explains web site development in detail. On one occasion I had been going back and forth with a customer who just didn't get it and I was becoming increasingly frustrated.
I was writing a heated email to the customer, again directing him to take his questions to webmonkey.com because I was done providing him with support. My friend looked over my shoulder and read the email that I was writing. He then looked at me and said, 'You're being one bad webmonkey.' Whatever that meant, it stuck.
My friends have now been calling me OneBadWebMonkey for the better park of a decade.
