[edit] HTC Branding and Code-Name confusion
As HTC's products are marketed all over the world under different brand and model names, there is often some confusion over models, and a generic name is useful for classifying devices. Fortunately, HTC use a code-name for each device type in house. In this case, the Orange SPV M3100 is an HTC Hermes 100 device. HTC themselves although originally named it the Hermes, they also market it themselves as the TyTN, in the same way that Orange call it an M3100.
There are a few types of Hermes devices - 100, 200, and 300. The SPV M3100 is a Hermes 100 device. Look under the battery at the label that says "NM8HERM100" (NM8 is a codename for HTC.) The differences between the 100,200, and 300 models are mostly superficial, slightly different keypad arrangements, chassis shapes, etc. Inside the hardware is identical, although the camera may be omitted.
Also, In the Windows OS, look at Settings>Device Information ... Here it says HERM100

[edit] HTC TyTN
I think because it says TyTN on their site I think we should indeed use TyTN not Hermes, are we clear?

[edit] HTC Hermes
Although HTC market the Hermes model as a TyTN, it is still and since production began (i.e. before it even came to market, and certainly before HTC started to sell it as the TyTN, and other operators were selling it as other names, its generic name was always Hermes. This is a matter of fact and not opinion, we are here for the truth, and not your opinion of what it should be called.

[edit] HTC TyTN
It is not my 'opinion' it is indeed the fact, if you search HTC Hermes here it redirects to TyTN I definatly think it should be the TyTN and believe me it is not opinion! Please sign your posts Smashman2004 (talk • contribs • email) 18:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] HTC Hermes
Look at a site dedicated to Windows Mobile, like Modaco, and you'll see this phone classified as Hermes, with TyTN as one of the many marketing names used for it. Many operators were selling this phone long before HTC were marketing it under the name TyTN, back then and even now, the generic name is still Hermes - whether it be an Orange SPV M3100 or a TyTN, the label under the battery, the name in the operating system, and the name of the camera in metadata for photos taken all say Hermes.
