Seems you have never been welcomed, so:

Welcome!

Hello, Oraclelink, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} after the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!

[edit] Thoughts

A few things I wanted to mention.

  1. Move reasons: Just as it is considered good Wikiquette to always use an edit summary, so too it is polite to provide a reason when moving a page, especially because that can be considered a major action in relation to the article. I saw you moved dozens of pages today with no reason given, and that you never leave edit summaries, so I thought I would bring this to your attention and ask you to bear in mind that there are others editing the project, and your edits are less likely to be disputed if you have good reasons and provide them for others to review.
  2. The many new Pokémon names to which you moved the various articles have not been released officially, they have only been published on forums and fansites. Forums and fansites, even big and usually-accurate ones like Serebii.net and the IGN boards, are not reliable sources. You really need to think twice before including information acquired there in the Wikipedia. I won’t move the pages back this time, because the names will probably be proven correct in short order, but in the future, be mindful of where you obtain information, as Wikipedia strives for verifiable content.
  3. I saw that you removed some hidden comments when you were unlinking Japanese names in the List of Pokémon. The comments read: <!--DO NOT CHANGE these unless you can provide an OFFICIAL SOURCE for the Romanization. That means DIRECTLY from Nintendo, not Serebii, Bulbagarden, or whoever. If you DO have a source, cite or link it in your edit summary.--> - something which still applies, despite the appearance of official & potential English names. Please take care not to remove such notes unless they have become irrelevant or useless.

I did that because there were only about 3 or 4 left in the entire article. The others had all already been removed. If you don't call that useless, with all the others already gone, then I don't know what is. Oraclelink 19:22, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your moves

Bear in mind Wikipedia:Attribution, which requires you have a reliable source for any information you add, including English names of Pokemon. It also precludes sites with anonymous input, such as Psypokes, Serebii, and PokeExperto, as reliable sources. As such, we have been busy undoing your moves. Regards, Jeske (v^_^v) 21:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to move pages to bad titles or before discussions about the title have ended, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. HalfShadow 21:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. HalfShadow 21:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Moves

If all of these new names that I have been fixing are SOOOOOOOO BAD, then why aren't you changing the other "unconfirmed" names such as Staravia and Bibarel, just because they were released on Serebii earlier? And also, NoA Andy has, at least, STRONGLY HINTED that the new names are official because he told everyone on the forums to not post them because they would be spoilers for those who want to wait until Diamond and Pearl comes out.

Finally, if the names are wrong when the game comes out, change them. Until then, why don't you just leave it with these English names that are most likely going to be right anyway? Serebii has never been wrong before, and you apparently think they are right about some things (first sentence).

Oraclelink, you need to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Attribution, which prevents us from using sites with anonymous input - Serebii, Psypokes, forums - as sources. -Jeske (v^_^v) 22:05, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Then why aren't they changing the other names, like I mentioned before. And they said that they got it from official sources, isn't that good enough for you?Oraclelink 22:07, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Because they're unconfirmed. What part of this eludes you? THe editors of the Encyclopedia Brittanica don't say 'Well, let's print this out the way we think it should go and hey, if we get it wrong, we'll just reprint it.'

Until Nintendo states these names as a fact, they aren't. HalfShadow 22:07, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Then fix ALL of them, not just SOME! If you think you are right, then follow through all the way, not just with the most recent ones revealed. And it only takes two seconds to fix something on Wikipedia, you don't have to reprint it. And how do you know that they haven't stated them as a fact to people other than the general public? Where else is Serebii and all the other sites going to get their information?Oraclelink 22:11, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

They still have anonymous sources, which precludes their use, Oracle. -Jeske (v^_^v) 22:12, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

We're finished here. Revert one more article; see what it gets you. HalfShadow 22:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

And also, I'm sure you're aware that "ALL the other Pokemon sites" you keep referring to are getting their information from Serebii, right? -Sukecchi 22:15, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Oracle, I found that Staravia can't be moved back - someone salted any possibility of doing so without admin involvement. -Jeske (v^_^v) 22:27, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

For the record, Oraclelink, you are right. Evolved starter names, etc., all need to be reverted if the other names are. But that still doesn’t excuse you move-warring against consensus( though it is nice that you are now using summaries). The names are almost certainly real, but CANNOT be posted as fact in Wikipedia until they are confirmed by Nintendo/PUSA. On the other hand, it might be worth mentioning each name in the appropriate article AFTER a consensus on the format of such a note has been reached. --WikidSmaht (talk) 05:28, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
