Orion Blastar is an Internet Experiment, a fictational character created by someone with an overactive imagination and a history of role playing games.
His Slashdot profile once read as: "It is complicated, my life reads like a bad Sci-Fi story. Born in 4061 in what is left of the USA, I spent most of my life as a Space Pirate to make ends meet. In 4096 I borrowed a Corsair with an experimental time drive and went back to 1995. I burned up the ship in re-entry as the drives failed, and used an escape pod to land. I laid low, and tried to warn people of stuff to happen, but they ignored me or thought I was crazy. I worked as a computer programmer but got sick and went on disability. I am here to help change the future to a brighter one, but nobody believes anything I tell them. I am a holy man; I am protected by Unix Daemons. :)"
Orion often posts hard to believe things, and while entertaining, can upset certain groups of people. Often Orion takes a Devil's Advocate stand on an issue to show another side of the issue that many people may not have thought about.
This is not an article to promote Orion Blastar, but to define and explain his character and nature.
Orion Bastar has fans and enemies, people either like him or hate him. Apparently he does offer interesting technical advice from time to time.
