[edit] Pre Mastered Compact Disc
{{helpme}}
DO NOT ERASE ANYTHING I DO WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH ME FIRST. THANK YOU Hello, I am still new in the community and making mistakes (I guess) as I go. I don't quite understand how everything works, but I know the basic pillars. So, if you can tell me what constitutes spam and why I can't sign the 4 tildes to the page I created. There has to be accountability, don't you think? Let me know how we can resolve this issue email me at (email removed, to protect you from automated email-harvesting spammers) Thank you Evinatea 17:41, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Your edits are recorded in the 'history' of each page anyway, so there's no need to sign on the page (you may want to read about ownership of articles, and why it's discouraged). As for spam, read Wikipedia's spam guidelines for information on what constitutes spam from Wikipedia's point of view. Hope that helps! --ais523 18:00, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
{{helpme}} How can we by pass the problem of the fact that these 2 companies created the format? Sonic Solutions and Sony are the developers, correct?
How can you not explain this? Would it all be Wiki acceptable is they were not mentioned? Just want to know.
- I'm not entirely sure of the context of this question. Was there a dispute on an article, or was an article deleted, or was it something else entirely? I'll leave {{helpme}} up to see if anyone else can answer it. --ais523 18:16, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi, Yeah, let me clarify. The Pre-Mastered Comapct was deleted for what I thought it was mentioning the names Sonic Solutions and Sony. Apparently it was because I signed with 4 tildes at the end of the article. I realize now, it was a mistake. But, why didn't Orthologist just delete the 4 tildes?
- I'm not an administrator, so I can't see the article that was deleted. If you post its exact name here, another helpme answerer can check for you (I have to go soon). Hope that helps! --ais523 18:52, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, people, I did erase the tildes. I never proded the article, or proposed that it be speedily deleted as spam and it wasn't deleted (Pre-Mastered Compact Disc). Moreover, referring to brand names and corporations is not a reason for deletion; except if it is blatant spam or advertising.--Orthologist 19:17, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Cool Orthologist. I am glad you are doing the rounds. I may have made a few mistakes before and am working to correct them. I do have more inquiries. How many administrators are at Wikipedia? Are you one? If I have authored a modern definition on an engineering discipline, can I mention my name?
I want to make sure that what I do and say is verified or challenged not just deleted by someone that doesn't like my definition. I am a member of the Recording Academy with 23 years of audio engineering experience and it took me many years to develop these theories .
{{helpme}} Orthologist, someone keeps deleting the page. I can't find it anymore click and see (Pre-Mastered Compact Disc) Evinatea 19:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. How can I find out who is deleting the page? You know if you read, that it's not Spam. You didn't delete it, right? Evinatea 20:15, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Orthologist, thanks for your time and information. Evinatea 20:26, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello Orthologist, It's been a few days and lots of things happened already. I am still a newbie, but I have made some contributions and deletions too. I've fought off spammers (Who wanted to accuse me of that as well) and got involve on a Wiki Project.
Anyway, I have a question. I volunteered to do a write on real time analyzers, it turns out there is a page on spectrum analyzers (the same thing) but, I don't see it as a good reference for audio mastering. Do I call an administrator and propose disambiguation status for that page? What should I do? Your input is always well received and appreciated. Best, Evinatea 19:38, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Misner space
Yes, Misner space was mentioned, but not Misner's Room which is why I moved it. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 02:12, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Revertin vandalism."
Hi there, I was archiving the talk page and to avoid problems I did it to one month earlier..is this considered vandalism? --Rayis 21:04, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- I was trying to archive the talk page, is this called blanking? I archived only the parts that had been out of discussion since December. --Rayis 21:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you, but ...
Hello, Orthologist!
Thanks for reverting the vandalism on the logarithm page. Unfortunately, you also wiped out part of the article (a graphic image) in the process. I'll put the picture back into the article, but in the future would you please use the "undo" button to revert vandalism? Thanks! DavidCBryant 23:26, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
It's me again. Thanks for writing back. And apologies are completely unnecessary ... I understand that you were helping out when you took that great big bunch of garbage out of logarithm.I hope it didn't sound like I was complaining the first time – I just want to help you learn something.
Here's how to find the "undo" button, On the article's "History" page, mark the two versions you want to compare, then hit the "Compare selected versions" button (it's a big gray button near the top of the page). That will bring up a "diff" page, with the differences between the two versions highlighted. There will be two blue links (edit) and (undo) at the top right of the page, in the "Current revision" section. Just left-click on (undo) and you should get the edited page, with the vandalism removed, and with an edit comment already filled in for you!
"Undo" should always work when going backwards just one version. It will usually work for multiple steps backward all at once – if it can't figure out how to undo the changes you've selected, it will give you a warning message. Hey – nothing's perfect. Have fun with it! ;^> DavidCBryant 00:35, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Ghost#Vandalism
Hey, someone pointed out to me that my response to your comment an vandalism on the Ghost talk page might come across as being a bit sarcastic. I want to know if you've taken it that way. If so, I apologize; I've not gotten a lot of sleep in the past couple of weeks. I want you to know that I mean sincerely what I said there. I really am very appreciative of your edits on that page, as I am sure everyone else is. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. V-Man737 06:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Features of a pinball game
[edit] Duplication
The information on the Features of a pinball game was moved (back) to the pinball main page. The information on that page is now duplicated on the pinball page and is redundant. There has been some controversy which I guess I started. I thought the pinball page was too long and I broke out the information into separate pages. My editing was undone and all those separate pages were blanked and the information was moved back to the main page. I like the separate page idea better, but apparently some Wiki editors do not.Lhammer610 15:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ultramaterialism
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Ultramaterialism, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Pomte 06:06, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- You may want to explain why and how this is different from materialism, over at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ultramaterialism and in the article itself. — coelacan talk — 06:56, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ASUE
[edit] Eliminationism
The article Eliminationism has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. See WP:NFT and WP:V. NawlinWiki 16:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your Name in Greek
Zanimum, you state on your user page that your name in greek means "νικοτίνη περισσότερο". As I am of greek ethnicity, I have to tell you that the proper grammar is "περισσότερη νικοτίνη". If you wrote it the other way deliberately, I apologize. By the way, I don't mean to offend; I just want to correct this (minor, actually) inaccuracy. Please don't take this the wrong way.--Orthologist 20:54, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm definitely not going to take this the wrong way, this is cool! I never thought anyone would see/comment on that. I don't speak Greek, so I didn't know what was what. At some point my name was in a press release or something that was translated into Greek. I thought it was cool, pasted it on my user page. Thanks so much for letting me know how it's actually supposed to be spelled. -- Zanimum 15:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ASUE comments on Clamster5's talk page
In reference to your question about deleted messages on Clamster5's talk page, I'm not sure what happened, but I didn't delete anyone's comments. The only change I made was this: [3]. As I look at the page, though, the link you provided says "2 intermediate revisions not shown." I see in the talk page history that Werdnabot automatically archived some comments and marked the changes as minor. Do you somehow have your settings so that minor changes are not shown? That would explain why it looked as if I deleted the comments. -Phoenixrod 01:30, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Robot fetishism
Hi Orthologist, I've made a request at WP:RM to have this article moved back to the original title. I believe the new title doesn't conform with WP:MOS and WP:NAME as "fetishism" isn't a proper noun or usually capitalised. Cheers and happy editing. Robotman1974 01:31, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Warnings
I'm not so sure about this, but I think 24.107.112.243's latest contribution [4] was a newbie's test. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he mistook the article with the talk page. Seeing his IP adress didn't have any comments, he must be new.--Orthologist 14:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- One might think that, had he not blanked the page moments before. I was on my way to leaving him a level-1 warning when he removed most of the article again, so I used a level 2 warning instead. As far as I am aware, it is perfectly acceptable to do this, regardless of whether the page has recieved comments before, especially if it seems to be an obvious case of vandalism, which is how it seemed to me. Thanks – Qxz 14:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question
{{helpme}}
Orthologist, I am not sure I am writing in the correct section to talk to the Orthologist about the deletion I made that was personal details, personal attacks, slander of a living person that I read that was acceptable to delete. GODS VESSELS 8:51AM 23 MARCH
I recently noticed the beatboxing article, which was of an extreme quality. Articles such as Deck the Halls contain sound files with the song in question. I'd like to know, is uploading an audio file of beatboxing to the respective article appropriate? If so, how can I do it? I don't think this would violate copyrights, as it's my work and in the public domain.--Orthologist 16:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia accepts sound files in the .ogg format for upload; you upload them exactly the same way as for images (via the 'Upload file' link in the sidebar), and they have the same copyright restrictions (self-made public domain is completely fine as a copyright, and you'll find it in the drop-down licencing box when you upload). Then, to add them to the article, the easiest method is the {{listen}} template. Hope that helps; feel free to put {{helpme}} back up if you have any further questions. --ais523 17:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

I have moved your featured sound candidate to a sub-page at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates/Joy to the World. You may want to watchlist this page, as all subsequent edits about the candidacy will be made there. Cheers, Mak (talk) 00:30, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I just wondered what your anti-clipping software is. I keep getting that problem when recording to my computer from my portastudio. That annoying distorted buzzing sound. I have no idea how to get rid of it... thanks! --Winterus 18:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:199.185.86.242
Hello, I just want to draw your attention to the fact that User:199.185.86.242 (or someone else using the same IP) has once again been on a vandalism spree. He/she/they have already received a multitude of "last" warnings, but it doesn't seem to have helped a lot. If you have the power to block this user, then please do so. If not, then I hope you know someone who does. Thank you. --x-Flare-x{Talk) 19:41, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:The_Simpsons_Fan_Art.jpg listed for deletion
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey 13:33, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[edit] Re: WikiProject ASUE

I used Eric's info as a template, I did not intentionally delete anything. I only added my name, alias, dob/pob and why one would know me. I didn't so much as mention my website or managers name. Not sure what I did that constituted deletion, it certainly wasn't vain.
[edit] if it's a new entry how is it deleting content
I used Eric's info as a template, I did not intentionally delete anything. I only added my name, alias, dob/pob and why one would know me under dj iMix. I didn't so much as mention my website or managers name. Not sure what I did that constituted deletion, it certainly wasn't vain or useful for promotion in anyway. I find your comment that "this is not Myspace" a little rude. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Djimix (talk • contribs) 19:30, 22 March 2007 (UTC).
I did NOT delete any information. If you can prove that I did, please, do so, because I do not want to make that error. That's not a challenge, I honestly don't think I deleted any thing and you have stated that twice. I really want to know what it is you think I deleted.
ok nevermind...I must have deleted Eric's stuff.....very sorry...there's a lag between posts and response that causes me not to see your posts in a timely manner and in the time that I have wrote this it's probably too late to tell you to dissregard the last post...sorry.

[edit] NOT VANDALISM
I am sorry if it appeared that way. I deleted the parts of the article that was slander, personal details, attacks and negative material. Wikipedia's policies says that non of these things are to be in the articles about living persons. What is the next step to solving this concern? By the way. Please let me know if I am in the correct place. Thank you. GODS VESSELS, 1:18,23 March 2007 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.37.51.16 (talk) 17:22, 23 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Lil Pimp
The reason that imdb is not considered a reliable source is because other than the cast information, it's a wiki. I gueess the fear is that it's possible to create an account with them, add trivia or whatever, then come back here and cite it. For a source to be reliable, it has to have editorial oversight. It's frustrating trying to create well sourced articles on not-to-famous pop culture stuff. I didn't search long, but this, this, and this are reliable, I think. - Peregrine Fisher 15:18, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
