Osage Treaty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Osage Treaty was signed on November 10, 1808 between the United States federal government and the Osage Nation. Jean Pierre Chouteau, a fur trader and treaty negotiator, managed to convince the Osage to sell their claim to large portions of the Missouri Territory. Based on the terms of the agreement, the Osage ceded to the United States lands that today constitute the states of Missouri and Arkansas.
