[edit] Outerz0ne History
[edit] Outerz0ne One
Originally, the conference was started as a "con-inside-a-con." It was held at the same time that Interz0newas held, in the same hotel. The reasoning for that was of a somewhat dubious nature in criticism of Interz0ne, and while attendees of Outerz0ne were asked not to enter into spaces designated for Interz0ne, their presence was still felt. Aside from someone setting off fire extinguishers inside of the kitchen area, nothing happened that caused any harm.
[edit] Outerz0ne Two
Outerz0ne 2 (also known as OZ-Deuce) was held at the same time as Interz0ne 5, again in the same hotel. The organizers of Outerz0ne 2 worked to provide interesting talks, social activities, and general interaction amongst the attendees. The conference was held in a single hotel suite, with a total attendance of fifty people.
While all of the costs of the conference were not completely recovered, it was well worth the cost.
[edit] Outerz0ne Three
Outerz0ne 3 (also known as OZ3) is being planned and should be a fun event. The goal is to provide a good networking environment, with quality talks and lots of social interaction.

[edit] The Outerz0ne Phenomenon
Rattle from Memestreams coined the phrase "The Outerz0ne Phenomenon" after noting the creation of Bar Camp, a popular anti-con to Foo Camp. Outerz0ne predates Bar Camp by a span of a few months.
[edit] Signature Shirts
At each iteration of Outerz0ne, a foam core board is set up near the swag table for all guests and attendees to sign. The board provided for signatures from the previous year is then scanned and made into T-shirts that are sold (along with less personalized shirts) to cover the cost of the conference. Effectively, the signature shirt for OZ-Deuce has the signatures of people at Outerz0ne One, the OZ3 shirts have the signatures from OZ-Deuce, and so on.
The board provided at Outerz0ne 3 will be done the same way, making one of a kind T-shirts of everyone in attendance to commemorate the con (and the actual shirts made will be sold at the next Outerz0ne).
