"Outrageous" is the fourth and final single released from Britney Spears' album In the Zone released during the second quarter of 2004.

"Outrageous" was both written and produced by R&B artist R. Kelly, who also offers vocals to the track.

The single was supposed to be coupled with a music video directed by previous Spears collaborator Dave Meyers ("Lucky," "Boys"); however, Spears sustained a knee injury during a dance routine and could not complete it. Clips of the video, which feature a cameo appearance by Snoop Dogg,

Shot in Woodside, New York, the supposed-to-be music video that is included in the DVD starts in the middle of the song where Snoop Dogg is seen playing basketball with a group of people. Suddenly, Britney interrups and ruins the game. She proceeds to flirt with Snoop and then licks his beard during the line "until I vow to keep it forever." In the next scene, she and her dancers perform in a wet street, which is where she injures her knee.

There is a bootleg called Bermudez & Bertoldo Q-Tee Fingers going around, but it was not mixed by either of them and is not official. However, the illegal remix is considered better than some of the official remixes by certain fans.

"Outrageous" performed rather weakly on the charts, and did not have an accompanying video to support it. The single peaked at number seventy-nine on the Billboard Hot 100; still, it is somewhat of a notable feat seeing as the song didn't chart on either of the component charts (the Hot 100 Singles Sales or Hot 100 Airplay). This is similar to the situation of one of Spears' previous singles, 2002's "Overprotected." It also ranked considerably lower on both Dance and Top 40 radio than her singles generally do.

Interestingly enough, "Outrageous" received a quite a bit of airplay in late 2003 and early 2004, just before "Toxic" hit the airwaves. Although it had no impact on the latter's performance, the fact that an unpromoted track from the album was on the airwaves in near-heavy rotation had a few people convinced that "Outrageous" was the actual new single by Britney Spears. The track "(I Got That) Boom Boom" had a similar chart run around the same time.

• This song was originally the theme for the 2004 film Catwoman but after Spears injured her knee, it was replaced quickly by Mis-teeq's Scandalous, which was the reason for the absence of a "Catwoman" soundtrack album.
