[edit] History
Formed in Mid 2003, Overpass, an original melodic rock outfit from Sydney, Australia, have been working hard on developing their sound whilst growing a steady fan base along across Australia and the rest of the world.
The band’s influences range from bands such as Incubus, Foo Fighters and Silverchair to John Mayer and Powderfinger.
In their short time together the band has achieved significant success and have played shows to sell out crowds at both the Sydney Metro theatre and Gaelic Club.
In 2006 the band recorded and released their debut EP 'Insane'. Produced and tracked with acclaimed production company Chartsong (The Veronicas, Repeat Offender) the EP was also mastered by Don Bartley (Silverchair, Powderfinger, Metallica) at [Studios 301]] in Sydney.
'Insane' received airplay on major radio networks nationally as well as strong reviews from local press:
"Insane is a solid slab of rock with echoes of everything from Tool to early 90's grunge."
(Drum Media, Sydney) [1]
Recently Overpass have been featured on Rove Live (August 15, 2006) as the house band. As well as Fox 8, Fuel TV, and Channel 9 and most recently across the 2Day FM and 2SER networks nationally. The band have also appeared at two stadium events, including the 2006 NRL Semi Finals and Tri Nations Final, playing to a crowd of over 40,000 at each event.
2007 will see Overpass release a film clip for their title track ‘Insane’ as well as undertake touring engagements to promote the new release. [2]
