Pál Tomori

Pál (Paul) Tomori (1475 - 29. August 1526) was a monk and archbishop of Kalocsa, Hungary. He defeated an Ottoman army near Sremska Mitrovica (hung. Szávaszentdemeter) in 1523. Pál Tomori was elected commander-in-chief (jointly with György Szapolyai) of the Hungarian army in the battle of Mohács in 1526. He died there while tried to stop fleeing soldiers.
Many legends and stories are made about him: His wife was killed, so he became a monk and he only became archbishop under the pression of the king, but he refused to were else than his armour and the monk's cowl.
