Płyniesz Olzo po dolinie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Płyniesz Olzo po dolinie" ("You flow, Olza, down the valley") is a poem by Polish educator and poet Jan Kubisz. It is an unofficial anthem of Cieszyn Silesia, particularly of the Poles in Zaolzie. Its theme is the cultural assimilation of, and loss of national identity by, local Poles. The lyrics make reference to the Olza River, symbolizing Zaolzie.

You flow, Olza, down the valley, And your waters, in their course, But in their lives And on your shores the oak trees On your shores, the nightingale The Jordan is holy So with a prayer I knelt And someday, when the spring wind blows And he will sit down on your bank |
