Founding President, Dr. Clifford Wilson, a world famous expert in Christian Evidences and Archaeology, is President of Pacific International University, a Conservative, Christian University based in Springfield, Missouri.

PIU has been thoroughly examined by the Office of Higher Education of the State of Missouri and is in good standing with them. Founding President, Dr. Clifford Wilson, has five fully accredited degrees and has had Senior University appointments in both Australia and America, as well as with Higher Christian Education Institutions.

The school was founded in 1980 as Pacific College of Graduate Studies by Dr Clifford Wilson and incorporated in 1987 as Pacific International University. Through that innovative exercise Dr Wilson became a pioneer of distance learning, being one of the first to provide correspondence education academic resources to people in remote locations, specifically Christian missionaries working in foreign countries. Dr Wilson is gratified to see that a process spurned by detractors at the time has now become a widespread practice within academia.

Because the University offers only correspondence education, it has no need for a campus. This allows course fees to be kept to a minimum, while bricks and mortar institutions must fund their extensive infrastructure. PIU offers distance learning courses in Biblical theology, ministry, cults, and many related subjects. The school offers B.D., B.Th., M.Div., M.Th., and doctoral degrees in Divinity and Theology.

PIU has a 25 year academic heritage with graduates engaged and at times excelling in a wide variety of endeavours. Qualifications issued by PIU are readily accepted by a range of other institutions to which graduates have applied for further study.

[edit] Criticism and controversy

PIU attracts criticism from people who object to its clear commitment to traditional Christian values. Faculty who have been active in debate about human origins have also been attacked by their detractors. Notably Dr Carl Baugh has been the focus of energetic and sustained opposition, due mostly to his work at the Paluxy River in Texas.

Note that many of today's prestigious colleges started out on the same ground that PIU occupies today, believing that a sound Biblcal education is an excellent preparation for valuable contribution in life and society. PIU is not ashamed of its commitment to traditional Biblical values.

PIU courses are Authorised by the State of Missouri and PIU has not sought to offer Accredited courses.

The school has an "administrative office," but no campus, so no classes are held on site.^[1] There are no minimum educational requirements to apply other than two references, one academic and one church related.^[2]

The school does not offer physical classes, only correspondence education.
