Did You Know...
...that Pal got a big break into the movies when, in 1943, the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) studios hired the collie trained by Rudd Weatherwax as a stand-in to take advantage of a massive flooding of the Sacramento River in northern California to obtain some spectacular footage. According to legend, the head of MGM, Louis B. Mayer, stated that Pal had entered the water, but Lassie had come out, and a new star was born.

Okay, exactly how many dogs--or characters--have stars on the walk of fame?
If it's only two, my money's on Rinty. Another WP article says three.
