[edit] History
The Panjab University was established at Chandigarh in 1956.

Founded in 1882 , as the fourth teaching and affiliating University in South Asia under the British Raj (after the Universities of Bombay, Calcutta , and Madras). Following the Partition of India, Lahore became a part of Pakistan and a separate Panjab University was established as an entirely new university in 1956.
