The Panov-Botvinnik Attack is a variant of the exchange variation of the Caro-Kann defense named after Vasily Panov and the world champion Mikhail Botvinnik. It starts with the following moves:
- 1. e4 c6
- 2. d4 d5
- 3. exd5 cxd5
- 4. c4
