[edit] Copying material
Please stop copying material from other websites to Wikipedia. This violates copyright laws, even if you cite the source. All of this material must be removed. Please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations for the applicable policy. All information from other sources must be re-written in your own words to avoid this kind of problem. --Blainster 21:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
To follow-up, you appear to be going through "How products are made" (by the Gale Group - which is posted on the enotes.com site) and inserting links to relevant article in Wikipedia. "How products ..." appears to be a reputable source, but as Blainster noted, verbatim copying from another (even with attribution) is generally considered to be a copyright violation. There is also the issue of adding external links. There are several hundred entries in "How products ..." virtually all of which correspond with an entry on Wikipedia. Simply adding external links without contributing content to an article (even when the linked site is reputable) is viewed as a form of linkspam. I encourage you to slow down and consider which contributions are really necessary for articles want to edit. You are right that the best way to edit is to contribute content and use the external link as a reference, but make sure that you re-write the content in your own words. Furthermore, I would encourage you to not add the content unless it really fills in a gap in the article (and actually, it appears that in several instances, this is what you have done already.) Good luck with your future edits. Nposs 14:47, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
