Partido
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A partido is an administrative subdivision of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A partido is formally a single municipality, though it usually comprises one or more population centers (towns and cities).
The municipal council of Buenos Aires or cabildo established the first partidos in 1784 and these were San Vicente, Quilmes, Magdalena, La Matanza, Morón and San Isidro.
All the other provinces of Argentina call their first-level subdivisions departamento (see Departments of Argentina), which are further subdivided into distinct municipalities.
