[edit] Parkwood United
Parkwood United Football Club are a college football team to be based at the University of Kent.
[edit] Name and History
The team originally started as Parkwood F.C but after a year of friendlies, two teams were created from Parkwood F.C and were entered into the University of Kent inter-college football league. One was Parkwood Rangers F.C, and the other was Parkwood United F.C. The name United was selected by Peter Mackintosh, the coach of Parkwood football, as he was accredited with much of the hard work to get the two teams into the competition, and the other name, Rangers, was selected by the sports development officer at the time, Peter French.
The first trials for new players took place in the September of 2006, and are set to be an annual event so as to continue the intake of players as older squad members leave the team. To play for Parkwood United, it is required that you attend the University of Kent and that you live in, or have lived in, the accommodation situated in Parkwood.
