Patrick Jennings (born September 24, 1979, Hertfordshire, England), commonly known as Pat Jennings Junior, is a footballer currently playing as a goalkeeper with League of Ireland club Derry City. He is the son of the Northern Ireland's most capped international, Pat Jennings.
[edit] Career
Jennings started his career at Tottenham Hotspur before making his name with UCD. He moved north to Derry City after several seasons at Belfield Park.
Although he had tried to displace first choice keeper David Forde, he found it difficult to play regular first-team football at Derry, but rejected offers to leave the club at the end of the 2005 season.
Jennings was the hero for Derry in the 2006 eircom League Cup final against Shelbourne as he came on from the substitute's bench to fill the place of David Forde, who had been sent off in the 84th minute of play. This was Jennings' just reward as he had played a primary role in helping the club make its way to the final. The game had gone to penalties and Jennings saved all of the opposing side's attempts. Having saved 3 consecutive penalties in a row, he is the only keeper in the world to have done so in a senior cup final.
With the departure of Forde to Cardiff City during the close-season between 2006 and 2007, Jennings began the 2007 season as Pat Fenlon's first-choice goalkeeper despite the signing of Ola Tidman.
