IMDb profile |
Pat and Margaret (1994) is a BBC television film written by British comedian Victoria Wood and starring her in the role of Margaret. Wood's frequent comedy partner Julie Walters co-stars as Margaret's long-lost sister Pat. The film was directed by Gavin Millar.
The story follows Margaret, a plodding motorway service station cook, who goes on a works outing to a television studio to see a Surprise, Surprise style show being recorded. Margaret is invited onto the stage during the recording and reunited with her long-lost sister Pat Bedford. The story shows how the two characters are pushed together by the media despite their lives having taken very different paths. Margaret is a cook. Pat is a famous Hollywood actor and has starred in a high profile television drama similar to Dynasty or Dallas.
The cast of this funny, sad and heart-warming story includes several of the actors who have often worked with Victoria Wood such as Thora Hird, Celia Imrie and Duncan Preston.
