[edit] Slight edit
I'm slightly changing the line about Labelle deciding to disband, because that makes it sound like it was a mutual decision. In reality Nona Hendryx had a nervous breakdown and had to be hospitalized (she wandered off a stage one night, locked herself in a dressing room and began to beat her head into a stone wall), which pretty much ended the group then and there. Minutae, for sure, but it continues to amaze me that die-hard fans of Patti LaBelle continue to skim over the fact Labelle (the group, with a lower-case "b") was not just Patti LaBelle singing with two other chicks. Labelle and Miss LaBelle are distinct but connected entities. Its like calling everything the Supremes recorded Diana Ross and the Supremes, even though "Diana Ross and the Supremes" existed only from 1967-1969 (on records). Its like calling another popular group Beyoncé and Destiny's Child. In this case, a capital B and a lower-case b mean a lot.
[edit] Vocal profile
Shouldn't there be a vocal profile for her? 69.209.204.95 11:42, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Well I do know that her longest note is 25 seconds in the song (Stay in my Corner)
[edit] Whistle Register
I am a big fan of Ms. Patti and I must admit that she has an amazing and powerful voice, but can the person/s who add Patti Labelle to the Whistle Register List identify some of the songs in which she uses that ability.
-
- She has sung E6 numerous times (highest note I heard), the lowest note of whistle register Antares33712 01:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Has she ever recorded it? Myke 08:32, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Here I'll help yall out just alittle, She hits Eb6 here: YouTube Lady Marmalade
does anyone know her highest chest note? I think it was in "When you've been blessed". I wonder what note it was, it was mind blowingly high! Good times!
- Recorded E6 in "Beat My Heart Like A Drum" from the Winner In You album. TamYum 03:55, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Formerly Unreleased Bluebelles Single: "Count the Days"
Can whoever did such an excellent job on the chart of singles please add the latest single (which previously never released) to the chart? You can put it in as (previously unreleased). Sorry I haven't been able to come up with a recording date for it. The song is:
"(1-2-3-4-5-6-7) Count the Days" and it's excellent.
It's been released on a new compilation CD "Atlantic Unearthed: Soul Sisters." Here is a link which talks about it: http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002385772
It is available on Itunes as well.
Thanks, Mike B.
[edit] Television section is a mess
Much of section titled Television work is lazily cut and pasted from IMDb, and done badly at that. The whole thing should be removed or redone, it's out of place with the rest of the article. 172.164.107.251 03:32, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Rather, not a mess, but in need of some maintenance.
[edit] Mislabeled image
Sorry if this isn't done correctly but I just wanted to let someone know that the picture of Patti is not titled properly underneath, it says "Paula Abdul" but it's a picture of Patti. I didn't want to try and fix it myself and mess something up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.231.88.4 (talk) 14:51, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Concert Section
Yes, I just added that whole section, and I did not do a good job with it, but I wanted to get it up there, because TO ME, that is what she is most famous for. Someone should do one on hair and drag, but anyway, edit away, but leave the section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.33.144.238 (talk) 02:08, 7 March 2007 (UTC).
- I just removed that section as unsourced original research material. Please stick to verifiable material from reliable sources. Thanks, --Tom 13:34, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
that was rude, Tom. I could write sources for it. I asked for it to be improved, not deleted. are u the wikipedia police?
- Yes I am. Be glad I didn't send you to Wiki jail, horrible place. JUST KIDDING! No, I am just one itsie bitise little editor. I am big into removing unsourced/original research material. Lucky for me, 95% of Wikipedia falls into this category so I have lots to do :). All kidding aside, please try to add sources for any material you add to the project, it really improve the quality of the articles. Thanks and good luck. --Tom 20:24, 7 March 2007 (UTC) ps please sign your posts with 4 tildes (~) so we know who wrote what, cheers!
Why are you big into removing material? have you been to a Patti concert? I didn't think so. My info was accurate, and if you had allowed it to stay up for 24hrs, it would have been sourced, but you deleted the whole thing. You have any idea how many pages have unsourced material? Thousands!!!! Why would you pick on Miss Patti???? There are so many things on her page alone that are unsourced...
- We hate Patti. No seriously, all material added must be attributable to a reliable source. This warning is there every time you add to a wikipedia article. If you can't source it, it gots to go. Kyaa the Catlord 10:06, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
well, guess what? i can show you Zillions of articles without sources listed... And what internet source is reliable anyway?
