Paul Francis

- Paul Francis is also a stage name used by Gary Glitter, and the real name of American hip-hop musician Sage Francis.
Paul Francis was the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for Sackville—Eastern Shore in the Canadian federal election, 2006.
Paul is married to Kathy and they have two children, Lisa and Joel. Paul and Kathy have been happily married for 24 years.
Paul graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts in History and completed a Masters of Divinity degree from Tyndale College in Ontario. Paul has continued to take post graduate level courses in a variety of fields, including politics, theology, ethics, and leadership.
While in university, and immediately following, Paul worked in the area of social work, first as care worker in a group home and then as a live-in coordinator for a residential program in Winnipeg. Paul and Kathy also pioneered the Boys Home of Toronto, a home for young men coming off the streets in Toronto.
Paul has been working in the riding for 14 years as Pastor of Gateway Community Church in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, a thriving church with an active congregation of around 200. Under Paul’s leadership, the church has been very active in the broader community and has developed numerous programs and projects over the years aimed at meeting various needs. The church is a member agency of Feed Nova Scotia, operating a food bank and providing advocacy and counselling when appropriate. They also house an emergency shelter that operates in the winter.
Paul and Kathy have also administered a home for young women in crisis, facilitated a Teen Drop-in Centre and run an after school program at Millwood Elementary School. Paul has served for three years on the Metro Food Bank Board, and serves as a consultant on issues of housing for people in crisis.
