Paul Postal

Paul M. Postal (born November 10, 1936 in Weehawken, New Jersey) is an American linguist and member of the faculty of New York University.
An important figure in the early development of generative grammar, he became a proponent of the generative semantics movement. He has since become a vocal critic of generative grammar in all forms, and specifically criticizes the manner in which Noam Chomsky promotes his current theories of language.
