Paul Tokasz

Paul Tokasz (b. 1946) represents District 143 in the New York State Assembly, which is comprised of the towns of Lancaster, and Cheektowaga, and villages of Depew, Lancaster and Sloan.
Chosen in a special election held in 1988, Tokasz is the current Majority Leader of the Assembly, and serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Rules. He has previously served as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Tourism, and the Assembly Committee on Election Law during the 1995-1996 legislative sessions. A former member of Doyle Fire Company No. 2, Tokasz has also served in the past as Chairman of the Assembly Subcommittee on on Volunteer Firefighters.
Prior to his election to the New York State Assembly he served as First Deputy County Clerk in the Erie County Clerk's Office, 1987-1988, and Deputy County Clerk overseeing the Erie County Auto Bureau, from 1977-1986, as well as Clerk of the Erie County Legislature in 1977.
Tokasz's previous occupation-prior to entering politics-was as a public school teacher in the city of Buffalo, New York, from 1968 to 1977.
He holds a B.A. in History from from Hobart College in 1968 and M.A. in Education from Buffalo State College.
