It probably doesn't belong in the article, but the incidence of a player, even a stellar one like Hornung, winning the Heisman on a 2-8 team has often been cited as an example of the bias of sportswriters of that era in favor of Notre Dame, particularly by the fans of the University of Tennessee, whose single-wing tailback Johnny Majors led that team to a 9-1 mark, and, like Hornung, had other skills (was one of the best punters in the nation, among other virtues), and also had good passing and rushing stats.

Also, should the 1965 book he co-wrote be included: Football and the Single Man by Paul Hornung and Al Silverman?
[edit] Notre Dame Comments
We are not at risk of libel because he is a public figure. I think it should be mentioned that Notre Dame's team has improved significantly without any seemingly racist recruiting policy. It should also be noted that his comments about the race of Notre Dame's athletes comes from a man who is a rarity because he is a white running back.
