Peaberry Coffee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peaberry Coffee is a coffee shop chain that was started in Denver, Colorado in 1990 by Bill Tointon. The store's concept is founded on serving a variety of coffee from local roasters categorized in a menu format called the "Peaberry Profile System". The system offers 4 selections of Coffee Roasting styles, Light & Mild, Rich & Creamy, Extravagant & Exotic and Dark & Intense. As of 2006 there are over 18 stores operating in Colorado.
The store is named after the Peaberry coffee bean, which is a rare whole single - oval shaped bean that grows in the coffee cherry. Most coffee cherries produce a split seed, or two beans, and the Peaberry is a natural anomaly of the plant's growing process making only 2% - 4% of the crop yielded. Though some coffee growers toss aside the oddity, connoisseurs praise its unique taste dubbing it the "caviar" of coffee.
