During their existence Basingstoke based Pegasus F.C. were a highly successful football team.
[edit] Club History
Pegasus originally played in the Basingstoke & District League before stepping up to the North Hants Senior League. The early Seventies were a successful time for the club and in 1975 they made a successful application to join the Hampshire League Division 4.
Pegasus soon adapted to the higher grade and immediately won promotion as runners-up. The club continued to thrive in Division 3 and after twice finishing 3rd the 1978-79 season saw them promoted as champions. After a season of consolidation, the 1980-81 campaign saw Pegasus win another promotion as runners-up. In these days the rules regardining ground facilities were not so strict and Pegasus were rubbing shoulders with the counties elite clubs. Whilst in Division 1 Pegasus finished 11th in 1981-82 and 13th in 1982-83.

In 1983 they decided to resign from the competition and return to the North Hants League. Eventually Pegasus returned to the Basingstoke & District League where they played until their demise in 1990.
