Penne is a town and comune in the province of Pescara, in the Abruzzo Region of central Italy. It sits in the hills between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea.

The economy of Penne is driven mainly by tourism, agriculture, the regional hospital and Brioni, the Italian fashion house whose suits are still hand sewn by Pennese women.

The town is very ancient, having been the seat of government of the Vestini people around 300 BC. Subsequently the area came under Roman authority and Penne can be found on later Roman maps. The town was known as Pinna in ancient Roman times.

Penne's churches include the 12th century Santa Maria in Colle Romano, and the Duomo , which now houses the Diocese Museum including a crypt dating from the 8th century.
