[edit] Single-name pseudonyms
I would like assistance/discussion about Category:People known by single-name pseudonyms per:
- Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 October 1#Category:People known by first name only
- User talk:Kbdank71#Category:People known by first name only
- User talk:Mikkalai#CfD

My suggestion was Category: People known by single-word pseudonyms (not "single-name", because John Doe is one single name that consists of two parts. Whatever linguistic counter-objections might be to the previous example, in any case "White Fang" is definitely not a "two-name pseudonym", because "White" is not his name, but you probably did not intend him to be in this new category). `'mikka (t) 00:01, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- This category has been populated: there are hundreds of entries. I am therefore removing the template requesting population. - GilliamJF 23:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed "Rules for Inclusion" in this category
I noticed some double listing and started moving things around. But I thought I'd get more of a concensus before I blow through the whole list.
- I propose that only the pseudonym should appear.
- Adrock, not Adam Horowitz (should be placed in Category:Rappers known by pseudonyms)
- Pee-wee Herman, not Paul Reubens, (nor Pee Wee Herman)
- Don't include nicknames, which are shortened or familiar forms of the real name
- not Little Steven (Steven Van Zandt)
- not Cher, short for Cheryl
- not Matisyahu, which is Hebrew for his real name Matthew
- Multiple pseudonyms may be listed for a single person, including former pseudonyms
- Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Puff, Puffy, and Diddy can all be included
- The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, TAFKAP, The Artist, and
may be included (Prince is technically his birthname)
- Character names should not be included, with a few exceptions where a portrayer is known for a single, well-known character across different forms of media:
- Pee-wee Herman
- Ernest P. Worrell
- Ali G and Borat (?) Now that Sacha Cohen is widely known for playing multiple characters, perhaps neither of these.
- Hulk Hogan, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and other big-name wrestling superstars - I don't think CM Punk counts. What about Hollywood Hogan? Should all wrestlers be moved to List of real names of professional wrestlers?
- not Frasier Crane, but what makes him different from Pee-wee?
- not Mr. Bean since Richard Atkinson is also known as Blackadder.
